Our Memory Assessment And Onward Referral Service
Our memory assessments are designed to provide a thorough assessment of the symptoms you or your loved one are suffering, a blood test that rules out other causes for memory issues and referral for an MRI scan. After these results are collated you or your loved one can then be referred onto a private older adult mental health consultant of your choice or a recommended consultant or back to your NHS GP for referral to memory clinic.
These initial assessments assess the severity of the issues, look for other potential causes but may lead after referral to the specialist to a diagnosis of dementia.
It is important to know that any memory assessment of this kind may lead to a diagnosis of dementia from which you will be given “Driving advice”. This usually means a requirement to contact the DVLA and inform your insurers. This may lead to the need for a driving test or in severe cases revocation of the licence.
